Man jailed 2 years for stealing rice, wine, A 29-year-old man, Fatai Aliyu, was yesterday sentenced to two years imprisonment by an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court in Osun State, for stealing 10 bowls of rice and four bottles of wine. The convict pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of theft and break-in when he appeared before Magistrate Olusola Aluko, who ruled that the convict serve his jail term at Ilesa Prison.  in Read invented by Teads Earlier, the prosecutor, SP Mireti Wilson, told the court that Aliyu committed the offences on October 29 at 2a.m., at Oke-Ayepe area of Osogbo. Wilson said Aliyu broke into the shop of one Mrs Okeola Comfort, where he carted away 10 bowls of rice and four bottles of wine. He was apprehended by the vigilante and handed over to the police. The offences contravened Sections 414 and 383 and are punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol.11, Laws of Osun, 2003. The counsel to Aliyu, Mr. Seye Oluyobi, prayed the magistrate to temper justice with mercy in the delivery of his judgment.
